Make an impact supporting students by bringing your expertise as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to an energetic school environment serving the Nashville area. This contract role offers the chance to work onsite supporting K-12 students, tailoring services to individual needs, and collaborating with a dedicated educational team. Assignments may vary between schools based on requirements at the time, providing variety and valuable experience.

This full-time opportunity (37.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday) starts as soon as possible and runs through late May 2026. You’ll benefit from a supportive atmosphere and the satisfaction of empowering students to reach their full potential.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Current and active Tennessee DOE teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
  • Experience working with school-aged students, K-12, strongly preferred
  • Ability to manage a caseload that may change according to student needs
  • Commitment to creating inclusive and accessible learning environments
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Flexibility to travel between assigned schools as needed
  • Background check and fingerprinting (district arranges fingerprint scheduling)
  • School-based experience preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and educational support to K-12 students with hearing impairments
  • Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with school staff and families
  • Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet diverse communication needs
  • Serve as a resource to other educators and offer expertise in accommodations and modifications
  • Monitor and report student progress, maintaining thorough and accurate records
  • Participate in team meetings, parent conferences, and professional development as needed
