Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) - Wichita, Kansas
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by supporting them as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a welcoming educational environment. This assignment spans multiple sites, serving students from early childhood through grade 12, and focuses on fostering academic growth, communication skills, and social development. You’ll play an essential role in ensuring students have equal access to learning, whether in mainstream classes or specialized settings.
What you’ll bring:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or eligibility to obtain it
- Experience creating and implementing IEPs tailored for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and/or spoken language communication approaches
- Strong collaboration skills with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Expertise with assistive listening devices, FM systems, and other supportive technology
- Flexibility to work across different school locations and grade levels
What you’ll do:
- Deliver specialized instruction designed to meet each student’s unique communication and learning needs
- Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to maximize accessibility and achievement
- Manage and troubleshoot a variety of assistive technology tools in the classroom
- Develop and track progress on IEP goals for students served district-wide
- Serve as an advocate for student accessibility, guiding teachers and staff on best practices
- Facilitate communication using ASL, spoken language, or cued speech as appropriate
- Support students in both academic and social contexts to build confidence and community engagement
This contract position begins in August 2026 and concludes in May 2027, offering an enriching experience working on-site across multiple district locations.
