In this role, you’ll collaborate with school staff, students, and families to deliver specialized educational services. You’ll play a critical part in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), adapting curriculum, and fostering an inclusive classroom environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification with endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (or eligibility to obtain)
- Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school setting
- Strong knowledge of assistive technology and communication modalities, including American Sign Language (ASL)
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and adapt instruction to various learning needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Develop and modify lesson plans to meet individual student objectives
- Assess students’ progress and regularly update IEP documentation
- Offer consultative services to general education teachers and staff regarding accommodations and best practices
- Communicate effectively with students’ families to support learning at home and in the community
