Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing preferred
- Strong knowledge of various communication methods (such as ASL, oral communication, cued speech)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to advocating for accessible, inclusive education
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ needs and tailor instructional strategies to support their academic and personal growth
- Deliver direct and consultative services outlined in students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Promote self-advocacy skills, social-emotional development, and independence
- Consult with classroom teachers and support staff to provide accommodations and modifications
- Maintain clear documentation of student progress and communicate regularly with parents/guardians
- Stay current with best practices and participate in relevant professional development opportunities
