Make an impact through your expertise as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a K-4th grade school setting! This contract opportunity focuses on supporting young learners with hearing challenges, providing vital educational services for approximately 180 minutes per month.

Qualifications:

  • Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
  • Experience teaching or working with children in grades K-4.
  • Strong grasp of best practices in deaf education and auditory/oral or total communication approaches.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, support staff, and families.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and support for students with hearing loss, adapting materials and methods as needed.
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies to maximize learning outcomes.
  • Educate and collaborate with classroom teachers regarding accommodation needs and inclusive classroom practices.
  • Consult with families, ensuring they are informed and involved in supporting each child’s development.
  • Maintain accurate records, including IEP documentation and progress notes, in compliance with requirements.
  • Serve as an advocate for students, promoting access and equal participation in all classroom activities.
