Key Qualifications:
- State certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience designing and implementing individualized instructional plans
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with students, staff, and families
- Proficiency in using assistive listening devices and adapting materials for students with hearing loss
- Ability to assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed
- Knowledge of current practices in inclusive education
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Adapt curriculum materials and modify teaching techniques based on student needs
- Consult with general education teachers and support staff to ensure accessibility
- Work closely with families to foster a supportive learning environment
- Advocate for students’ needs and monitor progress toward IEP goals
- Contribute to IEP meetings and maintain thorough documentation
