Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) | Marrero, Louisiana
Empower students across multiple schools by providing essential support as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) educator in a contract-based, itinerant position for the upcoming 26/27 school year. You’ll work primarily with middle school caseloads, serving as both a direct instructor and as a consultant to staff. This full-time role allows you to make a meaningful difference in students’ learning and access, while collaborating dynamically with several educational teams.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education (SPED) certification required
- Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement required
- Experience working with middle school-aged students preferred
- Strong knowledge of accommodations and modifications for DHH students
- Ability to travel between campuses as needed
- Effective communication skills with students, staff, and families
- Collaborative mindset for supporting multiple teams
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to DHH students on assigned caseload
- Serve as an educational consultant for teachers and staff regarding best practices for supporting DHH students
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Create accessible learning environments and advocate for necessary accommodations
- Conduct ongoing assessments to measure student progress
- Communicate regularly with families and educational staff
- Manage documentation in compliance with district and state regulations
- Prioritize student engagement and inclusion within the classroom setting
