Key qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education required; Master's degree preferred
- Valid Texas DOE Certification
- High proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience working with high school students preferred
- Collaborative approach, excellent communication, and a student-centered mindset
- Commitment to creating accessible and inclusive learning environments
Primary responsibilities
- Deliver effective instruction to students who are Deaf or hard of hearing, adapting content to meet diverse needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to support student growth
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Incorporate technology and visual resources to enhance learning outcomes
- Serve as a resource to staff on communication strategies and Deaf culture
- Encourage student advocacy and independence inside and outside the classroom
