Qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with school-aged children with varying degrees of hearing loss
- Strong understanding of sign language modalities, auditory/oral instruction, and assistive hearing technologies
- Ability to create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Skilled in collaborating across multidisciplinary teams
- Effective communication and organizational skills
- Flexibility and problem-solving abilities in adapting lessons as needed
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, both individually and in group settings
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies to foster development in language, academics, and social skills
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to integrate supports across school settings
- Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals
- Advocate for necessary accommodations and modifications in the classroom
- Maintain current knowledge of best practices and technologies in deaf education
