Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teacher
- Experience working with school-aged children in educational settings
- Strong knowledge of auditory and language development strategies
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Patience and enthusiasm for working with diverse learning needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, both individually and in small groups
- Develop and adapt lesson plans to support IEP goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers, speech/language pathologists, and other specialists
- Consult with families regarding student progress and strategies for success
- Advocate for accessibility needs and accommodations in the classroom
- Utilize assistive technologies and specialized resources to enhance learning
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions
