Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing in K-12 settings
- Proficiency in adapting curriculum and instruction to meet individual student needs
- Confidence employing visual communication techniques (such as ASL, cued speech, or signed English)
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and staff
- Dedication to fostering an accessible, inclusive classroom environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students with hearing impairments across multiple schools and varying age groups
- Provide instruction tailored to each student’s learning style and communication needs
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and related service providers
- Attend and participate in IEP meetings; maintain detailed records of student progress
- Guide and support families and staff regarding assistive technology, classroom strategies, and hearing loss awareness
- Adapt instructional materials and classroom settings to optimize accessibility and student engagement
