You'll serve within a supportive district renowned for its dedicated DHH hubs covering Pre-K through Elementary, with a new Middle School hub launching for the next school year.
In this position, you'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide consultative and direct services to a K-12 caseload. Assignments vary, allowing you to work with a diverse group of students and tailor your approach to their unique needs, fostering communication access and educational empowerment across campuses.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Valid and active Tennessee Department of Education teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience or background in consultative and direct instruction for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, preferably in a K-12 educational setting
- Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and related documentation
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with staff, students, and families
- Fingerprinting and required background check through Tennessee for school credentialing
- Flexibility to travel between assigned district DHH hubs as needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction and consultation for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, adjusting services based on individual needs
- Conduct assessments and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and IEP development
- Partner with classroom teachers and support staff to provide accommodations and classroom strategies
- Advocate for students' communication and learning needs in the educational environment
- Support district efforts to grow Middle School programming and DHH initiatives
