Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teaching credential with a specialization in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Proven experience working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing in school settings
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other methods of communication for students with hearing loss
- Ability to adapt curriculum to various levels of language and auditory access
- Strong collaborative skills for working with general education staff, specialists, and families
- Compassion, flexibility, and a passion for advocacy and student empowerment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to deaf/hard of hearing students within classrooms and/or small groups
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure accessible classroom learning experiences
- Offer training and guidance to staff regarding effective communication strategies and assistive technology
- Cultivate a positive, supportive learning environment, fostering self-confidence and independence in students
- Maintain detailed records and regularly communicate progress to families and school teams
