Teacher of the Deaf in Yerington, NV
Make a transformative impact in a supportive educational environment by providing specialized services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. This full-time, contract position is available onsite from August 31, 2026, to June 4, 2027. You'll work Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 3:30pm, serving a diverse group of 22 students. Three students are completely deaf and require intensive support, while the remaining students have varying degrees of hearing impairment and receive a mix of direct instruction and consultation services.
Desired Qualifications & Experience
- Valid teaching credential with endorsement or certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Demonstrated experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in a school setting
- Deep understanding of ASL, auditory/oral methods, and other communication strategies
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general educators, support staff, and families
- Skilled in adapting curriculum and instructional techniques to diverse needs
- Strong organizational and travel skills as the position requires moving between school sites
Role Responsibilities
- Provide direct and consultative services to a caseload of 22 students across multiple sites
- Deliver intensive, individualized instruction to students who are completely deaf
- Support hearing-impaired students through targeted small group or individual services as needed
- Collaborate with school teams to implement IEP goals and participate in student planning discussions
- Offer guidance, resources, and training for general educators and staff
- Maintain accurate documentation and service records in compliance with school and legal regulations
