Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Irving, TX
This opportunity is for a Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist to support early childhood learners in a school setting. The role is a full-semester contract position, working part-time with a flexible schedule that allows five days per week at 20 hours weekly. The ideal candidate will hold DHH certification recognized in Texas and have experience in teaching young children with hearing impairments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support to early childhood students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans tailored to students' unique communication and learning needs.
- Collaborate with families, educators, and related service providers to promote inclusive educational experiences.
- Utilize appropriate communication methods and assistive technology to enhance student engagement.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Valid Deaf/Hard of Hearing certification in the state of Texas.
- Experience working with early childhood age group preferred.
- Knowledge of specialized instructional techniques and hearing loss accommodations.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and educational teams.
