Teacher of the Deaf | Fishers, Indiana
Make a meaningful difference as a Consulting Teacher specializing in supporting deaf and hard of hearing students. This contract role offers the opportunity to collaborate with an innovative educational setting that serves kindergarten through 12th grade. The primary focus will be consulting, with flexibility to work onsite or virtually (as determined closer to the start date). Key Qualifications:
- Valid or eligible Indiana Exceptional Needs, Deaf and Hard of Hearing licensure
- Previous experience as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing specialist or teacher strongly preferred
- Deep understanding of the educational, social, and communication needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong consultation, collaboration, and communication skills
- Comfortable adapting to both in-person and virtual service delivery models
- Ability to work with students across a wide age and grade range (K-12)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide expert consultation to staff and support services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Help develop, implement, and monitor IEPs specific to hearing needs
- Offer professional guidance to teachers and support personnel on best practices and accommodations
- Serve as an advocate for student access and inclusion in educational activities
- Maintain accurate documentation and records as required by the school and state standards
- Collaborate closely with families, school teams, and other professionals to maximize student outcomes
