Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist - Hampton, Virginia
An educational opportunity is available for a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist to support young learners in an engaging school environment. This contract position is located in Hampton, VA, working full-time at 35 hours per week, starting as soon as possible through June 16, 2026.
The caseload consists of 8 students, all based at the district center, accommodating children from kindergarten through 5th grade. This setup enables focused, specialized support customized to each student's needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized support and instruction tailored to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in grades K-5.
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Monitor student progress and adjust strategies to meet their evolving communication and learning needs.
- Serve as a resource for staff and families to enhance understanding and advocacy for Deaf / Hard of Hearing students.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in a school setting.
- Strong knowledge of communication methods and accommodations appropriate for K-5 learners.
- Ability to manage a small caseload with individualized attention.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
Compensation ranges from $40 to $50 per hour, reflecting experience and qualifications.
