Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or similar credentials
- Experience working with children or adolescents in school settings
- Strong knowledge of assistive listening devices, American Sign Language (ASL), and other communication modalities
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent skills in advocacy, relationship-building, and communication, both written and verbal
- Capacity to adapt instructional techniques to meet diverse student needs
- Familiarity with current educational best practices for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing loss both individually and in classroom settings
- Consult with teachers and staff to modify curricula and integrate accommodations, ensuring equal access to learning
- Collaborate with families, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and other support staff
- Conduct assessments to determine students’ needs and monitor ongoing progress
- Advocate for appropriate resources and technology to enhance student learning
- Participate in IEP meetings and prepare comprehensive documentation
