Qualifications:

  • Possess an active Washington State Teaching Certificate (Residency or Professional), with appropriate Deaf Education or DHH endorsement
  • Demonstrated experience or training in teaching students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across various grade levels
  • Proficient in strategies for language development, communication modalities, and cultural competency within the DHH community
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with students, staff, and families
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt curricula accordingly

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction tailored to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in itinerant or resource settings
  • Assess student needs and monitor progress to ensure positive educational outcomes
  • Develop and maintain IEPs in close coordination with multidisciplinary teams and families
  • Offer guidance and resources to general education staff to foster inclusive classroom environments
  • Advocate for student accessibility and ensure legal compliance with IDEA and Section 504
  • Attend and contribute to school meetings and professional development relating to exceptional student services
