Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid certification or credential as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or relevant state authorization
  • Previous experience working with elementary-aged students in educational settings preferred
  • Familiarity with American Sign Language (ASL), assistive hearing technology, and auditory/oral teaching methods
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with teachers, families, and other service providers
  • Ability to design and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students
  • Commitment to fostering accessibility, equity, and advocacy in schools

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction and modify curriculum for deaf and hard of hearing students in an elementary classroom setting
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure students receive appropriate accommodations and modifications
  • Consult with staff and families to support student success and inclusion
  • Monitor student progress; participate in IEP meetings and evaluations
  • Advocate for students’ needs to promote an environment where every learner can thrive
  • Provide training or resources to staff on deaf culture and effective strategies
