Qualifications and desired experience:
- Valid California credential for Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain one
- Experience working in an elementary school setting preferred
- Skilled in American Sign Language (ASL), auditory/oral strategies, and assistive technology
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, both with students and staff
- Ability to adapt instructional materials and methods to meet individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Understanding of current best practices in supporting DHH learners
Key responsibilities:
- Guide and instruct DHH students in both group and individualized settings
- Assess and monitor student progress, making data-informed adjustments to support goals
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to implement IEP accommodations
- Foster self-advocacy and independence in students
- Consult on classroom modifications, technology, and resources to promote accessibility
- Deliver direct instruction and develop materials suited to various communication modes
