Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification or credential as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or relevant state authorization
- Previous experience working with elementary-aged students in educational settings preferred
- Familiarity with American Sign Language (ASL), assistive hearing technology, and auditory/oral teaching methods
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with teachers, families, and other service providers
- Ability to design and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students
- Commitment to fostering accessibility, equity, and advocacy in schools
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction and modify curriculum for deaf and hard of hearing students in an elementary classroom setting
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure students receive appropriate accommodations and modifications
- Consult with staff and families to support student success and inclusion
- Monitor student progress; participate in IEP meetings and evaluations
- Advocate for students’ needs to promote an environment where every learner can thrive
- Provide training or resources to staff on deaf culture and effective strategies
