Teacher of the Deaf | Mass City, Michigan
Make a real difference in the lives of students with hearing challenges by bringing your expertise as a skilled Deaf/Hard of Hearing educator to a supportive school environment. This contract role offers the chance to guide and empower a small, dedicated caseload of four students, providing individualized instruction and advocacy that truly matters.
You’ll work throughout the 2026–2027 academic year in a welcoming community near Mass City, MI. The caseload includes:
- Two students with Teacher Consultant Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TC DHH) services as part of their Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs)
- One student receiving consultative services only
- One student who has eligibility status for Deaf/Hard of Hearing services
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Teacher of Deaf/Hard of Hearing license or appropriate certification is required
- Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across educational settings
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
- Ability to develop and implement specialized instructional strategies
- Familiarity with current assistive technologies and IEP/IFSP processes
Primary Responsibilities:
- Direct instruction and consultation for assigned students, modifying curriculum as necessary
- Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to ensure appropriate accommodations
- Monitor student progress, document services, and participate in IEP/IFSP meetings
- Advocate for students’ needs within the school community
- Engage families and caregivers as partners in the educational process
