Teacher of the Deaf | Trout Creek, Michigan
Make a significant difference as a specialist supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing during the 2026–2027 school year. In this contract role, you'll collaborate with a small, close-knit caseload of four students, delivering targeted instructional and support services across a range of needs, from students on IFSPs to those receiving consultative services and eligibility-based supports.
Your expertise will foster accessibility, inclusion, and confidence—helping each student reach their potential. Hours per week will be determined based on student needs, providing flexibility within the academic calendar.
Key Qualifications:
- Current and valid Teacher of Deaf/Hard of Hearing license or certification (required)
- Experience in educational settings working with deaf and hard of hearing students
- Understanding of IFSP and IEP processes for student support
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with families, staff, and related service providers
- Ability to adapt instructional techniques to individual student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to a caseload of four students
- Implement and monitor individualized education plans and instructional strategies
- Liaise with families, teachers, and support staff to ensure cohesive support
- Maintain required documentation and participate in meetings as needed
- Advocate for student accessibility and work to create an inclusive school environment
