Empower young learners as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist, supporting elementary students in a vibrant classroom environment. Your expertise as a Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing will help create a nurturing atmosphere, ensuring every child feels seen, heard, and encouraged to reach their full potential. You’ll work Monday through Friday with a dedicated, collaborative team committed to student growth and advocacy in the Modesto area.

Qualifications and Desired Experience

  • State certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (or eligibility)
  • Proven experience teaching or supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing students at the elementary level
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities used by Deaf/Hard of Hearing learners
  • Strong understanding of assistive technology and individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families

Key Responsibilities

  • Adapt and implement lessons to meet the unique learning needs of Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
  • Utilize visual, tactile, and technology-driven tools to facilitate instruction in the elementary classroom
  • Develop and monitor IEP goals in partnership with school teams and families
  • Advocate for student accessibility and participate in professional development
  • Foster a positive, supportive environment that encourages student independence and achievement
