Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Stockton, CA
Support the success and development of elementary-aged students by bringing your expertise as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist and Teacher to a vibrant school setting. This contract position is tailored for passionate professionals dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where every child can thrive academically and socially. Working Monday through Friday, you’ll collaborate with a committed educational team to ensure students who are deaf or hard of hearing receive the individualized instruction and resources they deserve.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Hold certification or licensure relevant to teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Previous classroom experience, preferably at the elementary level
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods relevant to D/HH students
- Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt lesson plans to meet diverse student needs and learning styles
Responsibilities Include:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments and developing appropriate instructional strategies
- Creating and delivering lessons aligned with IEP goals and state standards
- Providing direct and consultative support to students in the elementary classroom
- Collaborating with general education teachers, specialists, and families to support student progress
- Implementing assistive technology and other accommodations as needed
- Advocating for students’ access and success across educational settings
