Qualifications/Preferred Experience:
- Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, or demonstrated skills as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing specialist
- Certification or proven proficiency as a Braillist, including Braille transcription and tactile materials creation
- Strong understanding of IEP goals, accommodations, and effective assistive technologies
- Excellent communication skills, both with students and multidisciplinary school teams
- Adaptable, patient, and creative in problem-solving and instructional support
- Commitment to fostering inclusive, accessible learning environments
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct support to students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing or those requiring Braille materials, in line with their educational plans
- Prepare, transcribe, and adapt classroom materials into accessible formats (Braille, tactile graphics, visual supplements, etc.)
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to implement accommodations and ensure access to curriculum
- Monitor, document, and report student progress in communication, literacy, and academic areas
- Provide consultation and in-service training to staff regarding accessibility and best practices
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute insights for student goal setting
