Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher Job Opening
Blazer Jobs is actively interviewing experienced Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) professionals for a full-time position for the upcoming school year with school districts in the San Antonio, Texas area. This role offers an opportunity to support students who are deaf or hard of hearing in achieving academic success and developing effective communication skills.
Requirements:
- Active licensure or certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the state of Texas
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Valid Texas teaching certification with endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), if required by the district
- Knowledge of assistive listening devices and hearing support technology
- Successful completion of background check and fingerprinting in accordance with Texas state and district policies
- Compliance with all local, state, and district professional standards
- Previous school-based experience preferred
Typical Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to promote student success
- Support language development, auditory training, and communication skills
- Utilize assistive technology and accommodations to enhance access to curriculum
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation and compliance records
- Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and multidisciplinary team discussions
- Provide consultation and resources to school staff regarding best practices for supporting DHH students
