Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) | San Mateo, California
Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a contracted Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This on-site role serves a diverse group of learners across various campuses within the Richmond area, focusing on consultative and itinerant responsibilities. You'll collaborate with educational teams and families to help students from early childhood through transition achieve their academic goals.
What you’ll bring:
- Valid Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) teaching credential and California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) certification
- Previous experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in school-based settings preferred
- Understanding of best practices for instruction, adaptation, and technology use for students with hearing needs
- Ability to travel between multiple schools as needed (itinerant, districtwide)
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with students, staff, and families
- Strong organizational abilities for managing documentation and schedules
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver consultative support to staff and direct educational services to students with hearing impairments
- Conduct assessments and participate in IEP meetings, writing reports and recommending accommodations or modifications
- Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to enable access for DHH students
- Serve as a resource for general educators, support professionals, and family members
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback, ensuring compliance with state and district mandates
- Support student transition planning through ongoing collaboration and multi-disciplinary teaming
