Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and qualified Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to support students in Adams, MA for the 2026–2027 school year. This role focuses on providing specialized instruction and support to students with hearing loss, ensuring equitable access to education and promoting communication development across learning environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Conduct assessments and contribute to the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Support students’ language and communication development (spoken language, ASL, or total communication as appropriate)
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, interpreters, and related service providers
- Recommend and support the use of assistive listening devices and classroom accommodations
- Provide staff and family training on strategies to support student success
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or related field
- Valid Massachusetts certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Experience working in a school setting preferred
- Knowledge of ASL and/or auditory-oral approaches
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
