Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Derby, KS

As a specialist in Deaf Education, you will design and deliver customized instruction that nurtures both academic and social growth in students from early childhood through high school. This role involves collaborating closely with general and special education staff while advocating for accessibility and inclusion in mainstream or specialized classroom environments.
Your day-to-day will blend teaching, curriculum adaptation, and technical support for assistive technology, all while fostering positive communication—whether through sign language or spoken language modalities. You’ll play a vital role in developing meaningful IEP goals and facilitating student success at every level.
What We’re Looking For:
- Valid credential or certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or eligibility to obtain
- Prior experience working with Deaf or Hard of Hearing students across a range of ages (EC-12)
- Proficiency in sign language and/or spoken language instruction
- Demonstrated skill adapting curriculum to individual student needs
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and related classroom applications
- Capacity to manage a flexible caseload across multiple locations in a district
- Ability to develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong interpersonal, advocacy, and communication abilities
