Step into a key educational role supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across multiple district settings. This contract position offers the rewarding opportunity to deliver specialized instruction and adapt curriculum for students from early childhood through grade 12. You’ll play a vital part in ensuring academic and social growth while facilitating accessible communication and providing advocacy for your students.

Responsibilities include collaborating with mainstream and specialized teams, managing and implementing assistive technology, and creating a classroom environment that meets each learner’s unique needs. Your expertise will be central to developing, implementing, and monitoring individualized education program (IEP) goals focused on both learning achievement and social integration. Communication facilitation—whether through sign language or spoken language support—is at the heart of this work, as is advocating for full inclusion and accessibility throughout the district.

Qualifications:

  • Certification or eligibility as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Experience teaching students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, preferably across multiple age groups (EC-12)
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or spoken language support strategies
  • Skilled at adapting curriculum for individual needs and diverse learning styles
  • Familiarity with assistive technology for hearing and communication
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and track effective IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication, advocacy, and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction tailored to individual student needs
  • Support students in both mainstream and specialized classroom settings
  • Facilitate communication and advocate for accessibility district-wide
  • Utilize and manage assistive technology for communication and learning
  • Develop IEP goals and partner with families, staff, and related service providers
