Teacher of the Deaf in Anoka, MN

Key Qualifications:
- Current certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID)—such as RID-NIC or NAD IV/V—or a score of 4.0 or higher on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA), plus successful completion of the EIPA written exam
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and demonstrated ability to interpret in educational settings (K-12 experience preferred)
- Professionalism, reliability, and a strong commitment to ethical interpreting standards
- Experience collaborating with teachers of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing and general education staff is a plus
- Ability to work exclusively on-site (remote or virtual arrangements are not available)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, student interactions, and school activities for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Facilitate communication between students, peers, and school staff using ASL and other appropriate communication modes
- Support IEP teams and participate in meetings when required
- Maintain confidentiality and adapt interpreting style to fit various educational contexts and student needs
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment conducive to learning
This is a full-time, 35-hour per week position set in a school community dedicated to inclusivity and student success. With a manageable caseload serving K-12 students, your skills as a certified interpreter will have a direct and meaningful impact every day.
