This contract opportunity begins immediately and will continue through at least the remainder of the school year, with the potential for extension. You’ll make a real difference by partnering with school teams and empowering students in multiple locations in and around Poughkeepsie, NY.
The schedule runs Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (37.5 hours weekly), offering a predictable full-time workload. Your weekly caseload will generally include 20 to 30 sessions, spread across 2 to as many as 8 school sites.
Qualifications and Experience
- Valid New York State Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teaching Certificate (required)
- Experience teaching students in grades K-5, 6-8, and/or 9-12
- Familiarity with IEP process, accommodations, and modifications for students with hearing needs
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility to travel between school locations as needed
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct instruction and support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across varied grade levels
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Consult with general and special education teams, families, and related service providers
- Provide training and resources to staff as needed
- Track and document student progress, adjusting strategies to maximize academic and social outcomes
- Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment
