Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid New York State Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TDHH) certification required
- Experience working as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a school setting preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with educators, families, and students
- Ability to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Knowledge of current best practices for Deaf/Hard of Hearing instruction
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive and accessible classroom environment
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to elementary students with hearing loss, approximately 10 hours per week
- Develop and adapt lessons to meet students’ unique needs and learning goals
- Consult regularly with general education teachers, specialists, and families
- Monitor student progress and document outcomes in accordance with district and legal requirements
- Advocate for accessibility and accommodations within the school environment
- Participate in IEP meetings and professional development as needed
