This full-time, contract opportunity is available for the upcoming school year and offers the chance to travel between schools near Aurora, IL, serving as an essential resource for your student caseload.
In this role, you'll serve as an itinerant Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, traveling to various schools each week as the primary DHH educator for assigned students. Each child on your caseload will receive dedicated support, helping them access the curriculum and thrive academically and socially.
Desired Qualifications:
- Professional Educator License (PEL) from the Illinois State Board of Education, including a Teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement.
- Expertise in deaf education principles and effective instructional strategies for students with hearing loss.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with general education staff, families, and related service providers.
- Strong communication and case management skills, adaptable across ages and grade levels.
- Previous experience with itinerant services is beneficial, but passionate new graduates will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the DHH teacher for students across multiple schools from kindergarten through twelfth grade.
- Deliver direct and consultative services based on each student’s IEP minutes.
- Assess student progress, update goals and provide regular feedback.
- Facilitate effective accommodations and modifications in the general education environment.
- Support staff training and family engagement to increase student success.
