Key Qualifications:
- Professional Educator License (PEL) from the Illinois State Board of Education with a Teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement
- Prior experience working with K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing preferred
- Knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies, accommodations, and assistive technologies
- Strong commitment to advocacy, individualized support, and collaborative teamwork with staff and families
- Effective communication skills and adaptability for serving students across various grade levels
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted instruction and support to a diverse caseload of K-12 students on an itinerant basis
- Implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) services based on allotted minutes per week, ensuring goals are met for each student
- Consult regularly with general education staff, specialists, and families to facilitate full access and participation in the school environment
- Adapt curriculum, monitor student progress, and contribute to IEP meetings with data-driven recommendations
- Act as a resource for hearing-related modifications and behavioral strategies in mainstream and special education settings
