Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) from the Illinois State Board of Education, with a Teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement
- Experience working with DHH students across various grade levels preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and school teams
- Familiarity with itinerant teaching models and ability to adapt to multiple educational settings
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, accessible learning environment that supports individual student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as the main DHH teacher for students assigned to your caseload, delivering required minutes of service each week
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing needs across K-12 settings
- Travel between school sites as needed to serve students in their educational environments
- Collaborate with general educators, specialists, and families to ensure progress toward IEP goals
- Support the development and implementation of accommodations, modifications, and assistive technology
