An opportunity is available for a skilled Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) to provide specialized educational support within a dynamic school district in the San Francisco Bay Area. This full-time, on-site position focuses on itinerant services primarily in the Richmond area, serving students from early childhood through transition age in a consultative capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver district-wide itinerant educational services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ranging from early childhood through transition.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and related service providers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Provide consultative support to classroom teachers to facilitate effective communication access and inclusion.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as necessary to meet individual needs.
- Ensure compliance with district policies and state regulations regarding special education and DHH services.
Qualifications:
- Valid DHH teaching credential and certification through the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).
- Experience providing itinerant services in a consultative role within a school setting.
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies, communication approaches, and assistive technologies for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse student populations, educators, and families.
- Commitment to fostering inclusive educational environments.
