Key Qualifications:

  • State certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Proficiency and fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) required

  • Ability to differentiate instruction and support both auditory and visual learning modalities
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with students, families, and school staff

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and specialized support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in K-12 settings

  • Serve as a resource and advocate for students, communicating regularly with teachers, interpreters, and families
  • Participate in IEP meetings, progress reporting, and ongoing assessments
  • Foster a positive, supportive classroom environment that promotes language development and self-advocacy skills
