Key Qualifications:
- State certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Proficiency and fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) required
- Experience creating individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing loss
- Ability to differentiate instruction and support both auditory and visual learning modalities
- Strong collaboration skills to work with students, families, and school staff
- Passion for empowering students to achieve their fullest academic and personal potential
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and specialized support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in K-12 settings
- Create engaging, accessible lesson plans tailored to students’ individual needs and goals
- Serve as a resource and advocate for students, communicating regularly with teachers, interpreters, and families
- Participate in IEP meetings, progress reporting, and ongoing assessments
- Foster a positive, supportive classroom environment that promotes language development and self-advocacy skills
