DHH Teacher | Birmingham, Alabama

This contract position calls for a passionate educator, experienced in teaching Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH) students, to empower young learners and foster a fully inclusive classroom experience.
To be successful in this role, you will:
Qualifications & Experience:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
- Possess a valid Alabama Teacher’s Certificate (or be willing to obtain).
- Meet Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements, or demonstrate a commitment to fulfilling those requirements within the designated timeframe.
- Maintain or be eligible for all necessary Alabama licensure for Deaf/Hard of Hearing instruction.
- Bring hands-on experience supporting DHH students in K-12 educational settings.
- Exhibit excellent communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, adapt, and deliver instruction to meet the diverse needs of DHH students.
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to create a supportive, accessible learning environment.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technologies, and assistive devices to optimize student engagement and achievement.
- Conduct assessments, develop IEPs, and contribute to multidisciplinary teams.
- Serve as a resource and advocate for Deaf/Hard of Hearing education within your assigned schools.
