Desired Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Knowledge and practical use of sign language (ASL or other relevant forms)
- Experience working with school-age children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Familiarity with IEP process, assistive technology, and classroom accommodations
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with staff, students, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and support to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in various educational settings
- Assess student needs and assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs
- Collaborate closely with general educators, support staff, and family members to ensure student success and access
- Provide guidance, training, and resources to colleagues on strategies and best practices for supporting students with hearing loss
- Facilitate the use of assistive technologies and adaptive materials as needed
- Promote self-advocacy, social development, and academic achievement for each student
