Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - West Hartford, CT

Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid state teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Demonstrated experience instructing students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a school setting
- Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and related documentation
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities with both students and multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency with sign language and assistive technology is highly valued
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver tailored lessons to meet each student’s unique communication and learning needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, tracking and documenting student progress
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, specialists, and families to support student integration and success
- Provide resources and training to staff and families to optimize student outcomes
- Maintain a positive, inclusive atmosphere that encourages student engagement and confidence
- Stay current with best practices in Deaf education and participate in relevant professional development
