Key Qualifications and Experience:
- State certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility).
- Experience working with school-aged children with hearing loss.
- Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL), auditory/oral approaches, or other relevant communication modalities.
- Ability to adapt curricula for diverse learning and communication needs.
- Collaborative attitude—skilled at working alongside multidisciplinary teams, families, and school staff.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills.
Your Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in individual and/or group settings.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to student abilities and goals.
- Foster a supportive and accessible classroom environment through assistive technology and strategic accommodations.
- Collaborate with teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other professionals to ensure educational consistency and inclusion.
- Serve as an advocate for students’ academic and social-emotional needs within the school community.
- Engage families, providing guidance and updates on student progress and resources.
- Stay updated with best practices in deaf education through ongoing professional development.
