Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • State certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility).
  • Experience working with school-aged children with hearing loss.
  • Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL), auditory/oral approaches, or other relevant communication modalities.
  • Ability to adapt curricula for diverse learning and communication needs.
  • Collaborative attitude—skilled at working alongside multidisciplinary teams, families, and school staff.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in individual and/or group settings.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to student abilities and goals.
  • Foster a supportive and accessible classroom environment through assistive technology and strategic accommodations.
  • Collaborate with teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other professionals to ensure educational consistency and inclusion.
  • Serve as an advocate for students’ academic and social-emotional needs within the school community.
  • Engage families, providing guidance and updates on student progress and resources.
  • Stay updated with best practices in deaf education through ongoing professional development.
