Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Waterbury, CT

Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or closely related field
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with various communication modalities
- Experience working with children or students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably within a school setting
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies and support materials to address diverse student needs
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with school staff, families, and support personnel
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, both in inclusion and resource settings
- Assess student needs, monitor progress, and document outcomes to inform instructional adjustments
- Develop and implement IEP goals in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
- Serve as a resource and advocate, providing guidance and training to classroom teachers and support staff
- Facilitate communication between students, families, and the school community to promote student success and accessibility
- Utilize technology and adaptive resources to support teaching and student engagement
