Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (state credentials preferred)
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities
- Experience developing and adapting curriculum for students with diverse hearing needs
- Strong collaborative skills to partner with general educators, therapists, families, and specialists
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning atmosphere
- Familiarity with IEP creation, compliance, and implementation for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver differentiated instruction for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in either inclusive or pull-out classroom settings
- Assess individual student needs and progress, using data to inform instruction and support growth
- Advocate for student access and participation across school activities and curriculum
- Consult regularly with staff and families to ensure students’ needs are met comprehensively
- Facilitate development of self-advocacy skills and promote communication access in the classroom
- Maintain documentation, progress reports, and necessary paperwork with attention to detail
