Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or closely related field
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with various communication modalities
  • Experience working with children or students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably within a school setting
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies and support materials to address diverse student needs
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with school staff, families, and support personnel

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, both in inclusion and resource settings
  • Assess student needs, monitor progress, and document outcomes to inform instructional adjustments
  • Develop and implement IEP goals in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
  • Serve as a resource and advocate, providing guidance and training to classroom teachers and support staff
  • Facilitate communication between students, families, and the school community to promote student success and accessibility
  • Utilize technology and adaptive resources to support teaching and student engagement
