What We’re Looking For:

  • Undergraduate degree in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) education; master’s degree preferred
  • Alabama DOE certification required
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) essential
  • Experience in a school or educational setting supporting DHH students at the middle school level
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills
  • Ability to collaborate with general and special education staff, support personnel, and families

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, accessible instruction tailored to DHH middle school students
  • Assess students’ needs and progress, developing individualized education plans (IEPs) as appropriate
  • Utilize ASL, spoken language, and other appropriate communication methods
  • Support classroom teachers in implementing accommodations and modifications
  • Engage families in their child’s educational journey, maintaining open and supportive communication
  • Foster self-advocacy and social-emotional growth for students
  • Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team planning

What You’ll Receive:
