Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience adapting communication methods such as ASL, Signed English, and/or oral approaches to meet student needs
- Demonstrated ability to assess and accommodate a range of hearing abilities
- Strong collaboration skills to work alongside general and special education staff
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in deaf education best practices
- Ability to travel between assigned sites for direct student support
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with hearing impairments, tailoring lessons to individual language and communication profiles
- Consult with classroom teachers and related staff to promote inclusive and accessible learning environments
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals specific to hearing needs
- Teach self-advocacy, communication, and compensatory strategies
- Support families through resources, progress updates, and guidance on technologies such as FM systems or cochlear implants
- Maintain thorough documentation of services, evaluations, and ongoing progress
- Coordinate schedules and services as required when working across multiple buildings or districts
