Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) - Dallas, Texas
A school district in the Dallas, TX area is seeking a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (D/HH) to provide specialized instruction and support for students from Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade. This contract position offers an opportunity to work on-site, supporting one campus, with a flexible schedule ranging from 21 to 35 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring access to the general curriculum
- Conduct evaluations and interpret audiograms to assess student needs
- Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings to develop and review Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Manage a caseload of students from Pre-K to 6th grade, maintaining clear communication with families and school personnel
- Collaborate with related service providers and educators to facilitate student success
Qualifications:
- Active Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing license through the Texas Education Agency (TEA) is required
- Experience working in Texas school settings, particularly with school-based D/HH populations, is strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of audiological assessments and educational strategies for students with hearing loss
- Ability to manage multiple student caseloads with strong organizational skills
- Effective communication skills and collaborative approach to working with multidisciplinary teams
