DHH Teacher | San Mateo, California
Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing within a diverse, collaborative educational environment. This full-time, itinerant position will serve various schools primarily in the Richmond area, providing primarily consultative support for EC-Transition caseloads. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring equal access to educational opportunities and empowering students to thrive academically and socially.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid DHH (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) teaching credential
- Current CTC (California Commission on Teacher Credentialing) clearance
- Experience working in educational settings with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Strong interpersonal and consultative skills, passionate about inclusive education
- Ability to travel between district sites as required
- Organized, self-motivated, and adaptable to varied student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with hearing impairments across district schools
- Collaborate with general and special education staff to support implementation of accommodations and IEP goals
- Conduct assessments, help develop IEPs, and monitor student progress
- Act as an advocate and informational resource for students, staff, and families regarding hearing loss and classroom strategies
- Participate in professional development and maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices
- Maintain accurate documentation of services, ensuring all required records and reports are up to date
