Step into an impactful, school-based opportunity supporting students with hearing differences as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. This full-time, itinerant position offers the chance to serve a diverse caseload throughout San Francisco, primarily focusing on early childhood through transitional-age youth. You’ll work closely with students, families, and educational teams across multiple school sites, fostering access and success in the classroom setting.
Qualifications & Desired Experience
- Valid DHH (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) teaching credential
- California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) certification
- Experience in consultative roles within educational settings preferred
- Ability to travel between school sites (position covers districtwide support)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Experience developing and adapting interventions for students with hearing differences
Role Responsibilities
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with hearing impairments districtwide
- Support staff and families in implementing accommodations and accessibility tools
- Collaborate with educational teams to develop and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Travel to multiple schools, with most locations concentrated in the Richmond area of San Francisco
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and update intervention strategies
- Serve as a resource for colleagues in understanding best practices for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
This role is an on-site, school-year contract beginning August 11, 2026, through June 2, 2027 and requires a commitment to full-time hours (35 per week).
