Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Dekalb, Illinois

Qualifications & Requirements:
- Valid Illinois teaching license with proper endorsements in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TDHH)
- Demonstrated experience working with high school students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Knowledgeable in best practices for inclusive education, language development, and communication strategies such as American Sign Language (ASL), Cued Speech, and/or oral communication as necessary
- Familiarity with state and district requirements, including Professional Educator License (PEL) if applicable
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working alongside staff, families, and service providers
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction onsite each afternoon (12:30 PM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday)
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s abilities and needs
- Foster an accessible learning environment and advocate for appropriate accommodations
- Monitor progress and maintain documentation in compliance with state and district standards
- Collaborate with other educators and support staff to maximize student engagement and achievement
