Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification/licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience working within school settings, particularly supporting K–12 students
- Proficiency in sign language (ASL) and/or auditory-verbal strategies
- Ability to assess student needs and implement individualized adaptations
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with educators, staff, and families
- Knowledge of current best practices in accessibility and inclusion for students with hearing loss
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and provide ongoing support for students who are deaf or hard of hearing across various district schools
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Offer consultation, training, and resources to general education teachers and staff to ensure classroom accessibility
- Conduct ongoing assessments and maintain thorough documentation of student progress
- Serve as an advocate and resource to families and caregivers, strengthening the home-school partnership
- Facilitate accommodations, such as assistive technology, to support student engagement and success
- Participate in professional development and maintain expertise in the field
