Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Schaumburg, IL

What you'll bring:
- Illinois certification to teach Deaf/Hard of Hearing students or American Sign Language
- Experience teaching high school students, ideally in a classroom or resource setting
- Strong knowledge of Deaf culture, communication strategies, and instructional techniques
- Proficiency in ASL and ability to adapt content for various student abilities
- Collaborative mindset to work with general educators, aides, and families
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive, accessible environment
Your responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging ASL and core academic lessons tailored to each learner’s needs
- Assess, monitor, and document student progress, adjusting instruction as necessary
- Promote language development and self-advocacy for students with hearing differences
- Collaborate with school staff to create and implement IEPs and educational accommodations
- Encourage participation in classroom and school-wide activities
- Serve as a resource for colleagues and families regarding Deaf/Hard of Hearing best practices
